Helping men who feel something missing in their lives

The Disquiet in Men

Helping men who feel something missing in their lives

“I need to wake up” to the Disquiet

“I need to wake up”, is Melissa Etheridge‘s anthem for the documentary, “An Inconvenient Truth” on global warming.

It’s a powerful song about the need to wake up and act. I think it also captures the essence of the Disquiet and the call to action. Check out these passages. Don’t they really capture the Disquiet?

Have I been sleeping? I’ve been so still afraid of crumbling
Have I been careless? Dismissing all the distant rumblings
Take me where I am supposed to be To comprehend the things that I can’t see

Cause I need to move I need to wake up
I need to change I need to shake up I need to speak out
Something’s got to break up
I’ve been asleep And I need to wake up Now

And as a child I danced like it was 1999
My dreams were wild The promise of this new world
Would be mine Now I am throwing off the carelessness of youth
To listen to an inconvenient truth

Here are the lyrics to the entire song. And here is the video.

One Response to ““I need to wake up” to the Disquiet”

  1. Dave Schoof Says:

As I work with this Disquiet more and more, I see the call to action for the individual deeply linked to the call to act on larger issues. What do you think about that?
